Title: What is it called, looking for pictures filled.
Post by: AbiggerGarage on Mar 02, 2025, 07:17 PM
S I sent my niece the top box of a Craftsman three toolbox set, (706.652570) it was almost the perfect size for her location.  It has that metal tray, that people used to keep 1/2" short SAE sockets in the front, a hammer in, etc.  Parts calls it a drawer pull, but that doesn't sound correct.

I am trying to find out the actual name of that tray, to see if I can find pictures to give her.

I am having some bad side effects to my treatment (face is a scab, and peeling).  Really tired.  Hope to get to sort and give her some tools for it, trying to find out what she has and needs.

The 1969 tool catalog just calls it a 18-1/2 x 7-1/2 x 1-1/2 deep tote tray

Hope you get some relief AG. Yeah, the tool tote was a ubiquitous part of older top boxes. It didn't take to many tools to fix a car or bike in those days, hence you kept your most used items in that tray and walked it over to the job.

Today most mechanics have the modern equivalent -- the tool cart.

I knew one crazy old body man who toted his pipes, various tobacco pouches and smoking accessories in one tool tote, and made his job rounds with two totes.
