We had an old thread to share your vices. Yes vices with a C.
So feel free to share if you like cigars, tobacco pipes, whiskey, brandy, wine, beer etc. etc.
Today's my birthday so its a taste of a gifted bottle of Old Forester 1920.
Paired with a Drew Estate Nica Rustica Adobe.

Yeah i just scratched an itch.
I tried Absinthe, very interesting.
I also have a freezer full of Apple moonshine , bloody tasty, .
That being said i only have maybe 1 drink every 2 months tops.
Thanks fro starting the thread again Tim. It's been a while since we shared our cigar and spirit journeys. It'll be warmer next week and I'll be back on the porch myself with a few good cigars.
Happy Birthday Tim! Wish you a great weekend.

These Ramon Allones Cubans have been aging in the humidor since 2017. Now it's time to break them out and smoke them. Aging does wonders for Cuban cigars. Sweet, nutty, and a full aroma -- great cigar.

Sitting by the fire is one of my favorite things to do.
Saturday was a Rolando Reyes Sr blend "Pirates Gold"
A nice smoke with coffee, pepper and spice notes.

I'm liking the fire, stories and drink. Very fine indeed mud man!
Sorry to be late on this one Tim. Glad you're keeping the old tradition alive. I just keep forgetting to take pics and to post when I'm enjoying a stogie these days. Will make the effort to take a few shots of the beverages and the cigars.
Good turn events for me down here in central Virginia. Just recently found where Mrs. Goodfellow gets her hair done in town, there's a great cigar store and lounge two doors down. We travel into town together. She gets the hair done while I enjoy a cigar at the lounge, and we go out to dinner afterwards -- Perfect!!

Definitely one of my favorite ways to unwind and just drop all the stresses.
It's Sunday and I was up with the birds this morning. Took some strong espresso coffee and a really nice box pressed Last of my Kind, Toro cigar from the humidor and enjoyed my morning. A sweet, smooth and bold combination of a smokey molasses and spice. It stays with you for quite some time.
It may not be the perfect morning cigar for most folks, but for me it just hit the spot.

So i was talking to a random cigar smoker this morning commenting about how i`d like to be able to enjoy a cigar now and then but cant stand the taste in my mouth for days after.
He said a milder/sweeter cigar does not do this?

I'm not sure that is true across the board Jabber. No matter what the blend, you're still ingesting the smoke from dried and fermented tobacco leaves. There may me milder symptoms, but in all my years of enjoying cigars, the aftertaste lingers.
You can mitigate the effect by pairing the cigar with a strong spirit, beer, coffee, or wine. Cheeses and cured meats also help in that regard.
New smokers seem to suffer the most from this after effect, but most consistent cigar smokers find that after a while this annoying aspect of cigar enjoyment disappears very quickly.
Righto Goodie ta.

It was a beautiful day sitting on the porch with a good cup of coffee and I was so looking forward to a cigar. I received this Gurkha Beauty Gordo size cigar as part of a promotion when I put an order in with my regular retailer. Long story short, this was probably the worst cigar I smoked this year. It tasted flat with a very mono-tone grassy bouquet. To top it off it wouldn't stay lit and the construction was such that the filler leaves would never completely burn due to all the tobacco leaf veins (twigs) preventing proper combustion and even burn.
This cigar was properly stored at 66F and 68% humidity for over three months. Hence it wasn't the environment that affected its lousy performance.
These things sell around $20 a pop and I'd rather smoke a tasty $5 Flor De Oliva than this crap. I've never really had a great experience with Gurkha products, and you won't find any in my cigar fridge humidor.
What a waste of a great cigar afternoon.
