Title: Matco MT1769A Rebuild.
Post by: Muddy on May 01, 2025, 06:50 PM
My workhorse 1/2 impact gave up the ghost. Would impact once then just push air the exhaust I tore it apart tonight. It broke one of the hammers.

I've heard from once source that this gun is the same as an IR 2135TiMax. The inside looks just like my old 2135 so I tend to believe this.

Now to find some parts and get it back hammering again. I actually bought this impact off of Krusty when he was retiring from being a full time mechanic.

Good impact and not that difficult to rebuild.

Nice going Tim! Crusty would be proud to see his old wrench get a new lease on life.

A very fitting tribute to one of our favorite fallen wrenches! Indeed, very well done Tim!

Please let us know where and what parts.  I bought a 2135 years ago, that didn't work correctly out of the gate, I really think it could be something simple like a bit of teflon tape in the intake tube, but then life got in the way, and I ended up at some point with a Ryobi one due to the boss that shouldn't drive (you know, screws up tires from bumps, makes a new truck look 30 years old in 30 days, after the first tire change, doesn't think you should have to put spare tire stuff back in vehicle, etc)

Thinking I might be able to do a project such as this, once I am out of the hospital

I got the tune up kit off century and the hammers off eBay.

Here is a break down of the gun.

Got the parts all cleaned up. I got the motor section back together. I thought I had air tool grease left from the last impact I rebuilt. But I don't so I'll have to get some to put the hammer section back together.

Got it back together. Even put a new boot on. Maybe I'll get to my other air tools I have laying around.
