My daily driver is a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
There, I said it. Most people hate these cars. I used to as well.
But this car was free. I just had to fix it. And I have to say it isn't a bad ride. It feels very solid on the road, despite its small size. It is pretty heavy for a small car. Actually classified as a light truck, believe it or not. I just hauled home a 9Kw portable generator in it a few days ago.
I can haul 8 foot lumber in it, fully enclosed. Try that in your 5-foot bed pickup.
21 years old and 80K miles. Nor Cal vehicle, so zero rust. Interior is nearly perfect.
Beat me up. ;D
A good daily is one that is paid for, costs very little to drive/maintain and gets from point to point. Doesn't matter make or model.
PT Cruisers were good all-round cars. Problem is people didn't take care of them. They just drove them like they would have an old 60's 70's engine without doing proper oil changes and maintenance. The Dodge Neon and Caliber suffered the same fate. They were good economy cars but the people that bought them couldn't/wouldn't do the maintenance. Hence their reputation suffered.
