Title: CAT Sockets
Post by: Highland512 on May 27, 2025, 11:04 AM
I was on the search for some new sockets for my truck box. At first, I was going to get the HF Icon stuff. After a conversation with a buddy who works as a field tech for Caterpillar, he said he could get me CAT branded tools. He said there made by Snap-On and very affordable, I was leery at best because I didnt know Snap-On and affordable could be used in the same paragraph.

Any ways after 3 weeks of waiting he called and said the stuff I ordered had come in. I ordered 1/4 deep SAE and MM and a 3/8 deep MM set. Im blown away, this stuff is 100% Snap-On OEM. The chrome isnt quite as nice as Snappy but for the price its perfect. $150 would be the cost of these at your local Cat shop, same items in Icon from HF is $125, off the Snap-On website..........$1,030. Great deal in my book.

I was looking for a Cat metric shallow chrome 3/8" set for my son. Ultimately I landed on a large 20 piece I think set of Williams USA made (Seller claimed made by Snap-on after Williams sold out to Snap-on) I recall hearing about this years ago following the buy out during the same time I bought my Williams screwdriver set clones of the old Snap-on hard handle drivers. So, I suggested the set to my son which he purchased for something like $107 shipped. We will see what he gets they haven't arrived yet.

Seller assures they are USA stamped and not Taiwan like later manufacturing went to and I think NOS from maybe a decade ago.

The Cat deal is very real and was my next choice, but this set was more comprehensive with no skips.
