Has anyone bought any of these? I have. Last year in my area the HF boxes were nowhere to be found within 100 miles of me so i settled for the less well thought of Kobalt version since it was the only thing available in my area. The drawbacks noted by reviews found on YouTube to me were of no real consequence and easily rectified so I have no regrets in my choice. Some weeks later I found a matching 3 drawer riser also offered at Lowes which I added.
This year others including Walmart are offering their versions of mini boxes which ironically size wise are close enough to mix and match brands. Walmart offers a larger base cabinet that simply has two doors with one opening left and the other right. When opened there is a shelf that can be mounted center height to the interior of the box. So, I bought it. I like the little boxes, but will admit that I haven't yet figured how I want to use them.
I just wondered if anyone else has bought any of these mini boxes and what your thoughts are about them.
I bought the Kobalt a couple years ago, came across them and bought one, apparently I was lucky because that's when they had first blew up the Internet and became hard to find I guess.
I have had a hard time finding any kind of practical use because the top is too shallow.
HD now has a Husky version that at least tries by adding a latch and a handle, but ultimately it's the same box with the same uselessly shallow top.
I bought this one earlier this year ( same ones offered by Snapob ) and keep it on my nightstand with some of my excess pocket tools mini multi tools and flashlight related stuff in it.

They also offer a top box so you can have a complete mini stack.
I thought about it, but just haven't decided yet.

I was entirely unaware of the new Walmart Hyper Tough mini boxes, I'm guessing they just got popular enough to dry up quickly.
Workpro on Scamazon also has one, it seems to be one of the most useful with a much deeper top and both drawers being deeper.
If that had a handle and latch you could actually find uses for it with little thought.
Those you showed look pretty cool. I really like the way the lid cover is designed like regular sized boxes.
Holy mackerel! I looked than setup you showed on Amazon and the bloody thing costs $70!
I don't think I have $60 In all three pieces I bought.

Yeah they're kind of overpriced.
At one point the same boxes were apparently available in a promotion from TEMUcor WISH where you could get the box with stocked with a bit set and small socket set in it for $20 or something.
$70 is a lot, but at least cheaper than off of the Snapon truck with their logo on it.
I have several of the Snap on tool chest style all but one I got at the swaps (which is why they are different colors - I would have chosen black) and one is a PIT brand. As far as I can tell the PIT is the same as the Snappies with a few minor differences. To me they appear to be the same OEM but the PIT is less than half the SO price. Sometime early in the new year I plan on getting another top and bottom but this time I will try the Vevor brand top. It also seems to be the same OEM but until I have one in hand I won't know. They are nice little boxes and quite well made in my mind the Snappies are overpriced but the PIT are more reasonable and the Vevor are a little less. I can't figure out how to remove the drawers though.

I got this little box at Lowes some years ago. It is unmarked and contained a set of tools in plastic trays that fit the drawers. I think I paid about $15 for it and only wanted the box - the tools got donated to someone who made use of them. The box is surprisingly well made and fairly heavy for it's size empty. I keep spare and extra taps and dies and related in it and it holds up to the weight quite well.

Those little gems are the ultimate "cool" accessory for tool geeks like ourselves. Thanks for sharing your treasures JAFE.
My favorite is the Snapon party box from the early 90's,out of all the mini's ever made it's the most useful as an actual small tool box.
With just some minor modification you can do this with it.

The only thing I have left to do is find some small latches to replace the originals with, because they're kind of just decorative and don't really latch securely.
The only reason it's so great is because of the KRA21 box it was modeled after and because it was sized to hold a poker set that came inside them.
j.a.f.e is making good use of his mini boxes holding mostly tool related collectables, that is probably the most appropriate use for these contemporary mini boxes that aren't well suited for storing tools.
I was at wally world today, and they actually had the little top boxes but only red & black and none of the bottom cabinets.
I've been looking at them to keep my modeling tools in.

I'm not really sure I need one really, I wanted to see one in person to get a proper idea of size so I could imagine what I'd use it for.
If I can't find a use than it's just an oversized novelty taking up space I don't have.
I actually bought one at HF the other day. Since Im always moving from project to project every 9 months to 2 years I thought it would be handy to keep all my pens and other office supplies in one place during the moves and offer some organization for my desk/folding table/back seat of the truck/wherever Im working.
