Center Finder reading at .005" from top dead center..

Top dead center looks like this..

Switch out the Center Finder with a drill chuck, using a center drill spot the hole before drilling. It's withing .001" of true center. Far less work than other ways to locate the center.

I have one of those, made by PEC out of Los Angeles. It is very nice, except working on sub half inch stock.
I have been eye balling those for some time and am familiar with the PEC brand myself.
