I wouldn't do it in series, but I would think in parralell it would float em.

I had been watching the listing for this for a couple weeks, but it was too pricy for my budget, seeing that I had to go to NYC for my sons wedding. But, when I got back, the price had fallen by 50%, so I called, met the guy that after noon, and loaded it into the back of my truck

It has both sets of original legs, with one of them having hanging spots for change gears, while the other has a cabinet for steady and follower rests


this is the motor mount mast, as it an early lathe, made when line shafts where still the norm and they hadn't changed over to back or under mounted motors.


disassembled for unloading. This thing is both very dirty, and very, very heavy. For a 7x24 it weighs around a quarter ton. Every part of this, from the gears to the pan, is cast iron.


and assembled in the back garage. Under the slopped on grey paint is the original black japaning, mostly in good shape. Everything moves smoothly, but there is one badly brazed repair:


So, it has a couple missing parts, mostly around the original mechanical reverse system. One of the problems is there are no manuals for these, so I am trying to research as many photos and vintage ads for them I can find. Lathes.co.uk has some stuff I need to order, and there is a Dalton section on Groups.io. But, I did get both steady and following rests, the change gears, and a few other things


So, that is the new big project, while I work on the single shot the rest of the time.

So i have 3 batteries that i rotate on the trickle charger , i was wondering if you could link them all together and charge them all together?

After logging 4,320 miles across 11 states in 8 whirlwind days, I finally made it home with my newest piece of American history. Because of the cost of diesel fuel I decided take my 26' motor home rather than my 45' coach. That consumes half as much fuel. However its' towing capacity is nearly the weight of my enclosed car hauler. Consequently day one of the trip included picking up a new 2,100 pound aluminum enclosed car hauler in Illinois. Three days and 5 states later I made the destination Arizona. Loaded the newest member of OldCarGuy's family.




A 1910 Fanders 20

Last year, I lost my lifelong friend. Remarkably, he with the guidance of  his father, restored this Flanders when he was only 14. Because his wife wanted to ensure the car went to a responsible owner, she asked me to purchase it. Now also being an octogenarian, I'll ensure that the Flanders is handed down to my grandson...

Indeed aluminum soft jaws are a favorable choice for clamping cylinder rods. Make sure the jaws do not have any in-bedded particles. And don't over tighten..

Nice snag. My father has a Ruger No. 1 in 22-250 I grew up harvesting groundhogs with.

Would these work for clamping chromed cylinder rods in a vise without causing damage to the rod?
