HF Close Quarter Angle Drill

Last evening I had to finish my "Honey Do" list for the week, or SWMBO won't let me play in the shop anymore :cya:

The garbage disposal was leaking a bit and needed to be removed and the drain resealed. Easy chore I thought -- well there is a compression ring around the disposal that is held on with a screw. I try to get my stubby screwdriver up in there to unscrew it and "bam!!!" it snaps off. So after a good half hour of cursing, I remembered that I had purchased a close quarter drill a few years ago for just such tight spaces. I chucked up a small Uni-Bit and proceeded to drill out the entire screw and bracket in just a few minutes.

Saved my aching butt!!! This tools is worth the $30 you pay when they're on sale -- I like it a whole lot!!

Right angle drills have saved my hide in several situations like that as well.

Same here Tim, and I can't tell you how many times I've loaned it out to friend and neighbors who got into a jam and needed to drill out a screw or stud in a tight space.  It was new in this pic back about 20 years ago. Now it looks like it was dragged through a grease pit. -- LOL

Also suggest keeping a set of cobalt drills at the ready because it makes close quarter drilling that much faster.

The only tight quarters drill I have is an old HF air version I bought new years ago. It paid its way with one use drilling a broken bolt out of the side of a head under hood years ago. A shorty bit (set since added) sure would have helped then!

I need to add a cordless Ryoby if they sell one.

I have the same one and it has paid for its self 10 times over. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if needed.

For those interested search eBay for a Proto 370 eggbeater hand crank drill. The model sports a handle that folds 90 degrees to the side allowing close quarters use. Often several listed at modest cost. I will likely buy one soon myself.
