Idiots are so confusing sometimes

I was at home Depot grabbing a couple of hardwood " hobby boards " ( knife handles, and a set of pistol grips ).

For some reason they price them like produce even though they're all the same pre cut 2' length, but I know this and have bought these 2' sections of black walnut many times before.
As usual in self checkout an employee has to measure them, I had a piece of black walnut and a piece of mahogany.
Normally they just measure and enter then walk off so I can scan the rest of my items and checkout.

This time I got an idiot telling me something about " this one is 24 ", ??? They're $6 something a foot " yeah but this one is 24 ", well I've bought them plenty of times and they're never that much.
" Well it's 24 and If you're going to  paint them I'd put 'em back and grab something cheaper ".( why grab a walnut and a mahogany just to paint them ? )
Okay what about the other one, " it's mahogany so it's going to be a lot more " ( I know it was only $4 something a foot).
Then I see the $13 & $9 on the screen.
Wait a minute how much is this,it's a $13 piece of wood right " yeah and the other one is $9 ".
Oh that's fine, that's what I thought they were.

I knew exactly what I was buying, but instead of just entering the length...etc he has to confuse me.
I know they're per foot and that each was 2' / 24", but he didn't say " let's see they're XYZ a foot at 24 inches so they're going to be... ".
No he just says " this one is 24 " , he never said inches or anything just " it's 24 ".
After all I had another item to buy.

This idiot gave me a headache and made a simple 1 minute transition take about 5.
I have a hammer addiction,  and a 1/4 ratchet addiction, and a pry bar addiction,  and a screwdriver addiction, and well I just have an addiction to hand tools in general.

Never engage and argue with idiots. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. And like wrastlin with a pig in the mud, after a while you realize the pig is enjoying the fun.

Yeah , in this case I was more just trying to understand what the hell he meant because he had me completely confused.
