Quote from: Muddy on Sep 16, 2025, 03:55 PM(This was Sunday) We are in the process of cleaning up the family farm.

We originally had three John Deere Bs for field work. 2 1948s and a 1944.The 44 B was bought new and was one of (if not THE) first tractors in the valley. I took that one out to my friends in ohio to restore for us. I bought one of the 48s off my grandfather before he passed and restored it. Unfortunately we didn't finish before he passed.

Not having a real use for it and knowing how much work it is to restore we decided we no longer needed it.

We are going to donate it to a local FFA chapter for a restoration project.

Any way. I got the tractor running and driving for them and to make easier to load on the trailer.

My son is the 4th generation to drive this Tractor.

Your son is gonna cuss you in a few years for donating that tractor muddy.
Better hold onto something boys cause i'm fixin ta stand on it!

Nah. We've got two other Bs he can run. He drove my B first, and he's got his pappy's M he's gonna have to restore one day (I haven't told him yet).

Saturday we did some tractor pulling Dad got a third. And I got a second.

The tractor jumped out of gear on my in my second class. Second time it's done that to me.

That'll be a winter project. Along with some other projects I'd like to do to the tractor.

Got a 1/4  cord of wood for the wood stove this winter. Not being my main source of heat it should last for a bit.

Now relaxing by probably the last fire of the year before our new years eve party.

I'm in Dunedin, in the South Island for a long weekend. Dunedin is one of the oldest cities in NZ. Following the gold rush on the late 1800s there was a lot of money floating around. The city had a major Scottish influence.

Dunedin Railway Station

The reason I'm at the railway station is I'm riding the Tairei Gorge Railway. This is a diesel hauled tourist railway that follows the Main South Line from Dunedin for 7.5 miles before joining what was known as the Otago Central Branch Railway, that used to go the 147 miles to Cromwell. It is now refered to as the Tairei Gorge Line and is 28.5 miles long. It follows the Tairei River through a spectalur gorge ending on the Tairei Plains.
