Snap-on started an economy screwdriver labeled Snap-on Par V in the mid 50's and it seems to have disappeared around the early 60's.

In the early 40's Snap-on introduced a new screwdriver handle called an Octo-Grip. The Octos-Grips were black (well, most were some seem to have been gray). The Par V drivers used the Octo-Grip design but were translucent amber. The line was limited to about ten different drivers and included straight and Phillips blades.

I have managed to find three of them two not in the best shape but still happy to have them - they made someone some money. The top driver is a flat blade but it's rotated to show the script on the handle which is just about impossible to discern.

A comparison of the Par V and an Octo-Grip with the same handle. Sure looks like they share same father to me.

Wow, very rare birds there JAFE! I like em! I have been adding as I find them at affordable prices 50's early 60's era Craftsman Super Tuff screwdrivers. Same red, clear and blue colors as those that followed, but much different design of handle. I have found 5-6 in various sizes to date.

I have a variety of old brands of drivers, nut drivers, and socket drive handles from various old manufactures that you just don't see anymore. My most recent coveted find is an old black handle 3/8" drive Blackhawk brand socket driver handle. Lately I have had a bug for the old Blue and clear Power-Kraft screwdrivers like Gf has. Another I want to find a few of are the beautiful old blue handle Herbrand screwdrivers from the day.
Better hold onto something boys cause i'm fixin ta stand on it!
