Single Drawer Service Cart

I have been casually looking around for a service cart for a bit now. My "garage" is in the basement of our house around the back. It's too much work to drag the big 5 drawer cart loaded up the hill to where my vehicles are. And you get lots of exercise walking back and forth for tools.

Harbor Freight had their single drawer cart on sale so I grabbed one this week. I'll load this up with the "essentials" to keep me from walking back and forth all the time.

Muddy Orange of course, and I had a great team put the cart together for me. Not a single cross thread or rounded head!

I love those! I would add one in a heartbeat if I had the room!

HF boxes are the bomb now! If I  needed a box now it would  probably be a HF if I was. Buying new. ( I bet if I needed a big box now though, I bet I would find something old and used and paint and restore it. I love restoring old boxes)
Better hold onto something boys cause i'm fixin ta stand on it!

Muddy

Loaded it up tonight. So far I'm happy with the order of things.

I riveted a magnet on the back to hold screwdrivers and extensions. I have 3/8 and 1/2 impact sockets, and a 1/4 socket set. Need some more 3/8 impact extensions.

Will take some using to see if I have it set up like I like it or not.

I have been dipping my little toe into the toolbox market lately. My HF box from 20 years ago is getting played out. I must admit the new HF series 3 boxs are nice but when I look at the used market and the asking price on 54" Snap On KRA's are only $300-$500 more than new 56" US Generals I tend to lean toward the used box's. Am I crazy?

Muddy

I'd say US General are on par with KRAs so if you can find a used KRA cheaper go for it.

However a KRA vs the new Icon boxes id probably go with the icon.

Yes, great choice. Those HF boxes and carts are quickly becoming the standard in many workshops. Back in the day it was Craftsman that provided the value, and now it's HF.

Yes HF has come leaps and bounds from its origins.

looks like a good setup to me mudman.

i agree about the hf boxes. the better boxes out class the old cman. unless the used snappy is in damn good shape it isn't even a question.

Have any carts like this been American made ?
I know Snapon has their blue point carts, but they're chinese.
I have a hammer addiction,  and a 1/4 ratchet addiction, and a pry bar addiction,  and a screwdriver addiction, and well I just have an addiction to hand tools in general.

Muddy

Took the 1/4 set out of the blow mold case to free up some room. It didn't free up as much as I thought it would. But at least they are more at hand then before.

Also rethinking wrench organization. These three pliers are the ones I use most (same at my full time job). I don't really see the need for more at this time.

Great use of space mudman! I have so much crap and so little space that I value and place a high priority on getting the most efficient use out of every last square inch out of whatever I am storing tools and accessories in. I like what I see in how you are setting that cart up.

I have been happy with those Hansen socket trays, but have been thinking about trying the Ernst socket boss.
Have you given those a try yet ?
